Very strange: last Tuesday, three states decided to recycle old governors back into office. Not as incumbents, mind you, but governors who had served before and left office. Those were California (Jerry Brown), Iowa (Terry Branstad), and Oregon (John Kitzhabher).
Those happen to be the three states that my wife and I have lived in!
Moreover, how long ago we lived there correlates to how long ago the recycled governor served. We haven't lived in California since 2002, and Brown had the biggest gap between when he left office (1982). We left Iowa last year, and Branstad left office long after Brown did (1998). And finally, Kitzhabher left most recently (2002).
Just a coincidence, but still . . . .
Iowa is the only one of the three that the retread will do a good job. California is hopeless and Kitz just doesn't have it.
