The jury decided, in the end, to sentence Zacarias Moussaoui to life in prison, rather than the death penalty. It's hard to argue with the jury's decision, especially since the rationale for seeking the death penalty seemed to be that Moussaoui's omissions and lies prevented the government from stopping the 9/11 attacks, as opposed to any direct involvement in the attacks themselves.
Don't get me wrong. Moussaoui is either someone who falsely confessed (as sometimes happens) or he is a really bad guy who not only intended to cause catastrophic harm to this country but took steps to implement his plans, foiled only because he was detained on immigration violations. In the absence of any ability to conclude the former, I'll assume that Judge Brinkema has done her job well enough that we can rely on Moussaoui's guilty plea.
So Moussaoui is a bad guy, and perhaps locking him up for life is appropriate. But executing him because he didn't come forward with the details of the 9/11 plot and because he lied to government agents always struck me as quite the stretch.
(But I have to admit, I thought it was certain that the jury would sentence him to death.)
The Beauty & the Beast
http://news.bostonherald.com/national/view.bg?articleid=137753 Moussaoui spared death, sentenced to life in Sept. 11 attacks.
Compassionate Christians & Jews couldn't condemn him to death.
But Why the luxury of an American jail where he can repeat in a comfortable surrounding his Arab Muslim 'declaration' of being sorry that only 3,000 were killed on 9/11?
How about we transfer him to a typical "moderate" Arab Muslim 'religion of peace' jail.
What?
They're not "humane" enough for this beast?
I thought that Arab Muslim "moderate" nations are 'like you and me'...
