L.A. Times' list of top 25 movies set in L.A. -- what I think it omitted

I came across this L.A. Times' list of the top 25 movies set in Los Angeles. It's hard to argue against flicks like Who Killed Roger Rabbit?, To Live and Die in L.A., and Fletch.

But no Ruthless People? C'mon, it's got everything L.A., like celebrity/rich-obsessed cops, fashion industry wannabes, diet fads, and a cynical view of Angelenos . . . .

And why stop at the last twenty-five years? It means Chinatown gets left off the list -- the first movie I think of when I think of movies about Los Angeles.

I wish people would write more about this as you have done. This is something that is very important and has been largely overlooked by the internet community
