I've never played a professional sport, so I could be wrong about this, but I've never seen anyone celebrate with a one armed elbow strike the way Ron "Metta World Peace" did in last night's Los Angeles-Oklahoma City NBA game. An elbow strike that just happened to smack James Harden in the side of the head, giving him a concussion. I mean, if Artest had clenched his fists and thrust them in the air, and somehow clipped Harden, I could possibly see how that might be an accident. But that elbow strike sure looked like it would fit in more in a Steven Seagal movie than a sports movie. . . .
Anyway, how long should Artest be suspended? Right now, KGW (our local NBC affiliate) is running a poll with the three choices of "rest of the regular season," "first round of playoffs," or "entire playoffs." Right now, "entire playoffs" is running away with 83% of the vote.
If I were the NBA commissioner, I would suspend for Artest for as long as Harden is unable to play, and then tack on a week after that.
In defense of World Shit, aka Ron Artest. If you look closely after his beastly attack he pounded his chest King Kong style, peole what we have here maybe the ever elusive missing link.
That being said, how can we descriminate against him? That's a normal behaviour of a wild animal when it placed with a human population. If fellows like you don' t accept this behavior then put him in a cage or ban him out human contact because most definitely it will happen again and next time the damage may be greater.

You could argue in a Clintonesque way that the use of the conditional "would" denotes a hypothetical situation, which does support his contention that he was speaking as if he were not the USC coach.
