Over at the Tivo Community boards, there's a lively debate about the worst ever sci-fi series on TV. It's like a trip down Horrifying Memory Lane. . . . "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" -- the old Gil Gerard/Erin Gray show -- has gotten lots of votes. So has "Manimal" -- the show about the professor who could shapeshift into animals; and "Lost in Space" (danger danger, Will Robinson!).
But I have to go with those who nominated "Galactica 1980". . . .
. . . although if we're not limiting ourselves to TV series but include specials as well, then the absolute winner in my view would be "The Star Wars Holiday Special." George Lucas, who has never been one to shy away from subverting plot and credibility for the sake of making bucks through merchandising (Jar-Jar Binks, anyone?), reportedly hates it so much that he'll never release it on DVD or video and supposedly told a sci-fi writer that he wished he could burn every copy.
