This AP story about the Oakland-Texas game begins:
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Barry Zito continued his mastery of the Rangers at Texas and the Oakland Athletics moved back into first place in the AL West with a 9-4 victory Saturday night.
Sounds like Zito had a dominating game, right?
Wrong. As the box score shows, Zito labored through 5 2/3 innings (getting just 2 outs more than the minimum to qualify for the win), throwing 107 pitches. He gave up 5 hits (not bad) and walked 5 (very bad). There were 3 double plays in the game, or it might have been worse for Zito.
That's domination? He's lucky the A's scored 6 runs in the first five innings, or he would've gotten the no-decision that he deserved.
